Diana Nickerson: Educator and Author of Good News
“My prayer is to point families and young children in the direction of Jesus Christ.”
Diana Nickerson is a Christian author, illustrator, and Licensed Early Childhood Educator. The children’s book ‘Is God Here?’ is her first publication.
As a teacher in the New York area for over 20 years, she has vast experience working with families and parents.
She’s also an avid reader of the Holy Bible and finds inspiration in the scriptures. The empowering Bible verses motivated her to become an author.
“I desired to use writing children’s stories as a way to glorify God,” she shared.
Nickerson explained that God generously blesses people with gifts and talents; yet, sometimes those gifts are not put into use and remain hidden from the world.
However, in the biblical book of Matthew, as Nickerson references, disciples of Jesus are called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
“Salt was given to horses as a way to produce thirst and light is meant to shine and give direction,” she explains.
The author strongly believes in the practice of daily prayer, and her children’s book is formatted to highlight its importance. The pages of the book both begin and end with a prayer.
It’s that same message that the author advises others to use in their lives: start each day with prayer, and end each night with prayer.
“It is one of the first steps in believing in God,“ she shares.
The author explains that prayer can effectively model a positive behavior and relationship.
“It’s an excellent way for parents to show children how to honor our Creator and to instill faith in Him,” the educator said.
Nickerson plans to continue writing and illustrating books to inspire families and young children to continue learning about the power of God.
