Catchin’ Vibes or Movin’ On? -A Convo with M.I.G Numen
Music. Musician. Marketing. Which matters most to you?
In this beautifully loud world, there are time-grabbing opportunities everywhere. Music is a competitor, but also a great sidekick. Music can complement any part of your day, either in the background or center stage.
We have our favorite, preferred musical genres and artists; but how did we get there? How did we choose who gets time on our playlists?
I met M.I.G Numen at the Rapperstore recording studio in Boise, Idaho. He was in the recording booth and I love watching recording sessions. M.I.G’s rich, strong tone was spitting out creative bars and melodic lyrics and I was ready to hear more.
I chatted with M.I.G about his 15-year musical career. I discovered a humble, talented, intelligent, curious, supportive artist and mentor. He spoke fondly of his family, art, and
vision.
“My wife reads over all my lyrics and gives me honest feedback. I treasure that we are such a great team."
M.I.G met producer Kasin Pointe (of Rapperstore) and artist Tha Proda-G (from Burley) at each of their respective first live shows. He instantly connected with the artists and offered his support.
“I like to push artists. I want to help them develop and get to the next step. My intent is nothing but love and help. It’s always been about development.”
About his future plans, M.I.G says things are building right now to the point that it feels unreal. Things are going the right way, he says. His tour begins in early 2024.
M.I.G believes connection is the pinnacle to success. “The connections you get with people, it can get you places. It’s who you know, and that’s not bad. I used to think it was bad, but I had to think positive in life. The positivity pushed me further. If I have a
question, I know someone who has already done it. Where else is a better place to get the information?”
The artist says his story is not typical. We agreed that everyone has a unique story, style, tone, background, and voice. M.I.G says there’s no need for competition because we’re just getting better in our art and telling our story.
“It’s about enjoying the process and recording with your friends. It’s about involvement and human connections.”
M.I.G explained music is going in one direction but coming back in a different way. He desires to catch that empty spot. M.I.G aims to create more than the typical rap song. We are an intuitive, moving, creative world, he states, in need of more variety in our
music choices.
When I listened to M.I.G’s music catalog, I was pleasantly surprised by the twists he can take in his different tracks. There are lyrics that can evoke emotions, keep you curious, and provide a kickin’ vibe.
I like the eerie-like beginning in the track “Who That.” I love the use of the quote in the beginning of “I’m Doing Fine,” which has a melodic lifted-up beat that is a nice paradox when you hear the lyrics.
You can find M.l.G Numen on social platforms sharing motivational quotes and supporting others. I find his socials to be a nice blend of consistent posts that elevates other artists while bringing you into his own art. It’s definitely a good vibe, and you need to catch it.
